This course equips students with a range of practical skills and associated knowledge related to animal and plant production. This qualification provides an entry level occupational outcome in agriculture. The qualification enables individuals to select a livestock production or cropping context as a job focus or, in the case of mixed farming enterprises, both. In this VET course students will cover a range of skills and knowledge relevant to working in the aquaculture industry. Learning opportunities will include; farming, hatcheries and nurseries, live post-harvest holding and processing, maintaining structures and machinery and sustainability. Students would benefit from having a desire to work in the industry or aquatic retail. This course is delivered at Yolla District High School.
This qualification is a pre-entry level qualification aimed at individuals entering the horticulture industry. It allows individuals to develop basic skills and knowledge to prepare for work. They may undertake a range of simple tasks under close supervision. The range of technical skills and knowledge is limited. The qualification is suited to VET in Schools programs or learners with no previous connection to the horticulture industry or relevant employment history. This course is delivered at Wynyard High School.
Cert II in Horticulture offers students the basic skills and knowledge required for their chosen horticulture stream such as retail or production nursery, landscaping, arboriculture, parks and gardens and general horticulture. This qualification underpins a range of work functions and job roles that can lead to a horticultural trade qualification. This course is delivered at Wynyard High School.
