Welcome to the Hellyer Regional Collective. The HRC was established over five years ago with the aim to support young people to successfully complete Year 12. The Collective consists of Hellyer College and nine local and regional Extension Secondary Schools; Burnie High School, King Island District High School, Mountain Heights School, Parklands High School, Penguin District High School, Rosebery District School, Smithton High School, Wynyard High School and Yolla District School.

Our schools work collaboratively, complementing each other offering a broader range of courses and subjects catering for students who will undertake apprenticeships and traineeships or seek a career in the service and retail industries or continue tertiary studies.

Our students can study a range of subjects and course at varying location, for example, Sport Coaching at Penguin, Horticulture at Wynyard, through to Tourism at Mountain Heights or Catering and Hospitality at Hellyer College.

The Hellyer Regional Collective works closely with industry, local businesses, Government agencies, and other education providers to identify future career options and pathways. We regularly review subjects and courses ensuring they meet the needs of our students and our region. We take pride in our personalised, inclusive practices that promote access, participation, and engagement for all students within the Collective.

Over the past five years we have seen consistent growth in the number of students continuing onto year 11 and 12 and also those achieving the TCE. In 2022 84.4% % of our 2021 year 10 students transitioned to year 11 compared to 80.7% in 2016. We also have seen a growth of 49.5% of students who have achieved their TCE in 2021 compared to 41% in 2016.

The 2017 vision statement agreed upon by the them principals of the Hellyer Regional Collective was to 'ensure that every student, regardless of location or interest, successfully completes Year 12 or its equivalent'. We are proud of our work in supporting our collective students to achieve this and their personal goals and reach their full potential.
