Understanding the unique needs of young people living away from home for the first time, our team is committed to providing a safe, supportive environment where residents can thrive academically, socially, and personally. The Residence is an important part of the Hellyer College community, offering a home away from home during the College terms.

We encourage parents and guardians to maintain close communication with Residence Staff, who are dedicated to supporting the wellbeing and success of every resident. Our door is always open for conversations about your child's experience and welfare.

Our aim is to provide a unique and enriching experience, helping students develop essential life skills such as independence, respect, resilience, and tolerance--all while building strong, lasting friendships. The Residence is a place where students can grow, learn, and confidently navigate their college journey.

The Hellyer Student Residence exists to support Hellyer College students who choose to relocate from the rural and isolated areas of King Island, Circular Head and the West Coast to complete year 11 and 12.

The Student Residence provides a home away from home for young adults at this important stage of their education. Life at the Student Residence is guided by the College's values of high expectations, relationships, respect, integrity, resilience, learning and creativity.

The Operations Manager and staff of the Residence work collaboratively with parents/guardians, and Hellyer College staff, to ensure that all residents are supported to create their future in a caring and respectful environment.

We aim to ensure that all student residents enjoy high levels of attendance and achieve their TCE, along with other VET qualifications, and if desired, a competitive ATAR. Together, these achievements will allow our student residents to succeed as connected, resilient, creative and curious thinkers who are ready to embrace the next step in their future, be that in work, vocational or university study.
